7 Oct 22 - Tire Chunk

A very long and scary story that goes with this chunk of rubber.

Kathy and I were headed down to Dania Beach to visit Jon and Kaitie and the girls.  We were pulling the camper south on I95 and were being passed by a semi with a shipping container on the trailer.  When the trailer tires were about even with the drivers door the outer trailer dually on the semi exploded!  Kathy and I felt the concussion from the explosion.  We both jumped and just about screamed.  There was rubber flying from the exploded tire and as he pulled in front of us the inner dually tire exploded on the trailer.  We followed him till he got off at an exit to see how much damage there was to the side of our truck.  When the driver pulled over and came up to us he apologized for what had happened.  He said the container was way overloaded!  I told him it scared the crap out of us.  My ears were still ringing!  We both inspected the side of the truck and found no damage to our truck.  When we got to the next rest area I noticed this chunk of rubber in the bed of the truck between the fuel tank and the 5th wheel hitch.  We don't know how we didn't get any damage to the truck.  It was very scary.

6 Oct 22 - New Mud Flaps

Today I installed a set of Duraflap mud flaps on the truck.  www.duraflap.com I called the office to order them so I didn't make any mistakes.  Their customer service was great, I talked to a lady named Sue who once lived in Titusville, FL.  She was great to talk with as we completed the order.

I got a set with the chrome weights on them.  They have so many weight designs available and they can do custom weights also.
They are no drill mud flaps that are very rigis and won't curl up.

1 Oct 22 - Beach damage walking North

Seawall damage.

There was an access ramp in this mess.
The end of Main Street.
The brick facade fell off the front of this building.  It took us a few minutes to figure out where all the bricks came from.
We looked at this house when mom was in the market for a house.  This one is 2 blocks north of our house.
This house is next door tot he blue and yellow one above.

Seawall washed away.

Seawall washed away.

Lifeguard stand at the park almost washed away.

Winds ripped the metal storm shutters off the front of this house.  Pulled the attachment bolts right out.

29 Sep 22 - Hurricane Ian Winds

We lost only one fence post during Hurricane Ian.
The post rubbed a little paint of the camper.  Most of the weight was held off the camper by the steps!  Glad I left them out!
Some minor damage to the pool cage from the winds.

Hurricane Ian winds.
