19 Feb 22 - 2 Boondockers Welcome Guests at the same time!

We have 2 guests from the Boondockers website at the same time this weekend.  The white rv in the driveway and the jeep belong to a couple from New York traveling thru.  The dark van couple are having a house built in Latitudes out on LPGA Blvd and are here for a meeting.  They flew in from New Hampshire into Orlando and picked up their van from storage and came over for the meeting.  Both are very nice couples and will be gone by Monday morning.
Due to an error on the Boondockers website we couldn't turn either one away.  Exciting times here at the house.

16 Feb 22 - Transfering Fuel

Letting gravity do the work today!  Transferring the fuel into the truck.
Got a small filter at the end of the hose, the PVC keeps the hose at the bottom of the barrel and the other end is in the tank.  Slow process but it is better than hand pumping!

14-15 Feb 22 - Quick Trip to Spartanburg, SC

We left for Spartanburg Monday afternoon to retrieve the bed tank tool box from the black truck.  The body shop is still waiting on the fender on the drivers side.  When we got there they had put the 50 gallons from the tank into a 55 gallon plastic drum.  I used the hand pump to transfer about half the fuel into the red truck while Earl removed the bolts from the tank.
Earl helping me get the pump off the tool box tank so I could pump the fuel into the red truck.
4 guys and a strap to life the 25 gallons of fuel into the red truck.
The outside of the drum was wet and dirty from setting outside.
But we got it without and damage or spillage.
Drum and tank strapped down ready to roll home.
Stop for a 10 am snack before leaving spartanburg.  Kathy pronounces "sammich" all the time.  Now we know where she gets that pronunciation from!

We passed this oversized semi with tires sticking out of the top of the trailer!
There were only 3 tires in this semi trailer, I can't imagine how much each one cost?  $40,000 each, maybe?

12 Feb 22 - Abandoned Septic Tank Repair - Again!

The sink hole appeared again the the back yard, smaller this time but it was back.  We had the septic tank people come out a while ago to fix it, but I guess he didn't fix all the gap.  When I dug up the tank, which was abandoned many years ago when we hooked up to city sewer, I found this gap in the lid.  The repair guy stopped about 18 inches short of completing the job properly.

So I mixed up the rest of the concrete I had from pouring the front step and some fast drying hydraulic cement and put a garbage bag on top of the crack so the concrete wouldn't just run into the crack and poured it on top.  It hardened on the bag and should stop the dirt from washing into the tank.  Only time and rain will tell if I did the job right.

12 Feb 22 - Camper Automatic Transfer Switch Replacement

When we moved the camper a couple of weeks ago to have the trees trimmed in the back yard the Automatic Transfer Switch started buzzing when we plugged it back into the house on the east side.  After doing some research and asking some questions and watching some YouTube videos I determined the switch was bad and I could replace it.  So I ordered the parts from Amazon and waited for their delivery.  Here is the inside of the switch.  What it does is lets power into the camper based on either Shore power or the generator providing power.  So there are 2 sets of wires coming into the right side of the switch (red, white, & black), one coming from the generator and the other from shore power plug.  One set of wires on the left side going to the circuit breaker panel.
Here is what I found when I took the cover off the switch.  Between the white and black wire terminals there were a glob of dead ants.  I don't know if that is what fried the switch or not.  But they were electrocuted!
Documenting wire removal so I know where they go back to!
Once I replaced the switch I replaced the converter which takes 120 volt power and converts it to 12 volts and charges the battery that runs the 12 volt accessories and the lights and starts the generator.  Once I got it all back together it was a success.  We have power in the camper both 120 volt and 12 volt.  Was a couple of hours well spent in the camper basement.
