On Friday after dropping Mom off at the Sanford Airport I picked up this bench from Matt, the laser etching guy to rebuild. It belongs to his mother and is around 50 years old. The seat was a frame with luan siding on the top and bottom. The luan was coming apart and had a piece of plywood screwed to the top. This bench sets outside on her front porch. I said I could rebuild it, we will see.
I got all the luan stripped off and the center braces out.
This is the seat frame without all the spindles and arms attached.
Here are all the spindles from the back.
Here are the 2 arms with one in the middle clamped to fix damage from taking out the screw that held the arm on.
I glued up the frame so I can use it as a template when it comes time to mark and drill the holes to reconnect the back and arms to the solid seat that I plan to make.
